PSHCE
Learning
PSHCE helps all pupils develop as individuals in
a wider society. Pupils learn to understand themselves
physically, emotionally and socially and to understand
their relationships with others.
The
aim is to develop within each pupil to the best
of their abilities the knowledge, concepts, skills,
attitudes, moral values and self-esteem to meet
their present and future needs.
There
are specific aims for each of the elements within
the PSHCE curriculum:
1.
To develop in pupils the knowledge skills and understanding
necessary to achieve maximum independence in LIFESKILLS
including personal self-care, domestic skills and
community independence.
2.
To develop in pupils the knowledge skills and understanding
necessary to live HEALTHY LIFESTYLE including diet
hygiene keeping safe and sex and drug education.
3.
To develop in pupils the knowledge, skills and understanding
necessary to enable them to achieve LIFELONG LIVING
SKILLS including careers and vocational education,
work experience, leisure and planning for transition
into adult life.
4.
To develop in pupils the experience of SOCIAL INTERACTION
with other individuals, including adults, in a variety
of situations. Through taking on the roles and responsibilities
within the school environment the pupils will hopefully
learn appropriate behaviours and move from a personal
view of themselves and their immediate world towards
a much wider perspective.
